Lunch, Japanese style

As a late birthday present, my sister treated me to a ramen shop near her old college campus. This was my first taste of ramen that wasn't your average "supermarket instant noodles" variety.
The first thing I ate from my chicken katsu bowl, according to my sister, was bamboo. The actual noodles were deep underneath the broth. Oops!
Eating out in places like this are probably the only time I'll be open to eating leafy green vegetables, maybe because spinach leaves are one of the few foods I can effectively grasp with chopsticks. All in all, it was an interesting experience that I wouldn't mind having again.

(For my money, even though it's got nothing to do with sushi or Japanese cuisine, Goldberg's Bagels is probably my favorite place outside of Pennsylvania I've eaten from.)

(Goldberg's is a classic. Their bagels are amazing and they have such a varied menu.)
