With the arrival of the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection in my mailbox this afternoon, I think I now have way more Mega Man games than any one person can legally Get Equipped to handle.

This overstuffed Blue Bomber game collection collection of mine now includes...

  • Mega Man LC (the six NES-era MM games)
  • Mega Man LC 2 (Mega Man 7-10, with 10 including the Game Boy boss DLC stages)
  • both X Legacy collections (all eight X games across SNES, PS1, and PS2)
  • Mega Man Zero/ZX LC (includes the whole Zero quadrilogy and both ZX games)
  • Battle Network LC (includes all six BN games and their Pokémon-like variants, split across two collections but included on the same Switch game card)
  • this one (which I believe contains all seven variants of the Star Force trilogy - yes, you read that right)

Capcom really went buckwild with the MM releases in the 1990s and 2000s, only for them to dry up in 2010. Now I think I have most of them in my game room, including oddball releases and reissues like Command Mission, Maverick Hunter X, Powered Up, and the PS2 Mega Man X Collection since it's the only way I can play Battle & Chase. I used to own the Mega Man Anniversary Collection on PS2, but I don't need it anymore because of the Legacy Collections and because its two secret games, Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters were rereleased on Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium a few years ago. I've been playing video games for over 40 years now, and my priorities have since switched from "trying to finish every game I come across" to "just playing enough to get a satisfying experience".

Once Dual Override (informally known as Mega Man 12) is released next year for the franchise's 40th anniversary, I'll probably play that even though I'm upset that Capcom's dropping Ben Diskin as the voice of the title character because of voice actor union conflicts. I sure hope this one is as good as 11 (except for the Gear Fortress levels, which were pretty weak by Wily Stage standards).
